Stux.Group, from idea to online

The first client site: the parent company's own website, and how it took the same five steps every client site takes.

Stux.Group

Innovating Today, Building Tomorrow. The home of the Stux.Group Brand of Companies: every brand, its software and services, and a way to get in touch.

The five steps

The same path every client site takes, with a Stux.Group brand at each step.

  1. Idea

One front door for the whole Brand of Companies: what each brand does, the software and services they run, and how to reach the team.

    Stux.Digital
  2. Design

Stux.Group red, with the logo assembling from particles, a tab for every brand in its own colour, and light and dark themes.

    Stux.Design
  3. Build

Plain PHP with no build step, no database and no analytics, a protected contact form and the Boring Legal Stuff hub.

    Stux.Dev
  4. Host

Served from Stuxedo's hosting, behind Cloudflare, with maintenance and coming-soon pages ready if they're ever needed.

    Stuxedo
  5. Online

Live at stux.group, checked every 5 minutes on status.stux.group, and looked after release by release.

Idea

Stux.Group is the parent of eight brands: Stuxedo, Stux.Dev, Stux.Cloud, StuxAPIs, Stux.Music, Stux.Digital, Stux.Design and Stux.Games. Each has its own site, but there was nowhere that showed them together. The idea was one site that does: who the brands are, what they've built, and a way to get in touch with all of them at once.

Design

The design starts from the Stux.Group mark. On the homepage it assembles from particles, scatters away from the cursor, bursts when it's clicked and catches a shine every so often. Our Brands gives each brand a tab and a card in its own colour, with its icon rebuilding from particles when it's picked, and each logo stays muted until it's hovered. On narrower screens the row of tabs becomes a grid of tiles, so every brand stays in view without scrolling sideways. The site follows your light or dark preference, and remembers it if you switch.

Build

It's plain PHP: one front controller, a view per page, and no build step, database or analytics. The Get In Touch form is protected by a CSRF token, a honeypot and rate limiting by hashed IP address. The Boring Legal Stuff hub holds all six legal pages, links pasted into Discord show a custom preview with the brands and buttons, and a local dev server runs it the same way on any machine.

Host

Stuxedo hosts it, with Cloudflare in front. If it's ever down for maintenance, or relaunching, visitors are sent to maintenancepage.stux.group or soonpage.stux.group rather than an error.

Online

Version 1.0.0 went live at stux.group, and it's been updated since, release by release. GitHup checks it every 5 minutes, along with its services and media host, and the results are on status.stux.group.

Your site next

Every client site takes the same path. If you've got an idea, get in touch with Stux.Digital and yours could be the next one listed.
